The big advantage of the online designer is that the size of the cover is automatically adjusted to your specifications. Once you have entered your page count and selected a paper, you can start designing. So you don’t have to struggle with any dimensions ;-)

A PDF document is then automatically generated from the designed cover, which is automatically uploaded to the shopping cart. With one click you can download it there for review.

Create a cover for hardcover binding without the online designer

Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop are particularly suitable for creating a cover. However, with other programs such as Word or OpenOffice this can also be realized.

Select a book binding. Once you have selected the desired page count, a paper and the "cover print" on the product page, the appropriate cover dimensions will be displayed on the left-hand side. You can now use these dimensions to create and design your cover as you wish. The bleed allowance of 20mm is already included in these dimensions.

The cover for the hardcover binding is structured as follows:

R=spine, H=height, B=width

The width of the spine is also displayed with the dimensions on the product page. The spine is located in the middle of the document.

The light blue area marks the hinge area (also called joint). Further information on the topic hinge can be found here.

The bleed allowance (gray area) will not be visible later (with hardcover binding, the bleed allowance is not cut off but folded over). If images on the cover are to extend right to the edge without leaving a white margin, they must be placed into the gray area.
